In the United Kingdom, some people have been infected with contaminated blood. Contaminated blood HIV and Hepatitis C injected into people that needed blood in the 1970’s. It is at present that this people will be getting compensation payments.
The report says about 30,000 people were infected with HIV and Hepatitis C. The scandal is seen to be the deadliest disaster in history of Britain’s state run National Health Service, since its inception in 1948.
How did these UK citizens get infected?
Basically at a time in the 1970’s the UK needed people to donate blood for it’s people. There are many categories of people that needed blood. Some people needed blood transfusion because of surgical operation or some might just need some particular protein from blood to be healthy.
During that time, Britain was unfortunately not able to provide enough blood supply for it’s people in hospitals. The United Kingdom solicited for help from America. The U.S.A offered to help.
We all know that in the U.S.A everything is based on money. Love is about money, marriage works based on money.
The United Kingdom agreed to pay the U.S.A, if they provide blood for the UK hospitals. The US was in on the agreement.
People with risky health conditions came forward to offer blood in exchange for money. Free blood donors are few. But if it will be in exchange for money, blood donors will be many. Free blood donors are mostly people that live a healthy life, because they know they will be tested.
The companies, that collected the contract of receiving blood from donors in the U.S.A, chose not to test the bloods. This was because by doing the test on the donors, They will have to get rid of some of the batches of donated blood. This will amount to lose of money. As they are n it for the profit.
After investigations, it was found out that, some of the batches were infected. The companies that collected the contract knew that the batches were infected. Yet they sold the donated blood from the U.S.A to the UK hospitals.
By this act, about 30,000 people in the UK were infected from the blood transfusion. They were mostly infected by the HIV and Hepatitis C. Today The victims are asking for there compensation.
The Cabinet Office minister John Glenn, told lawmakers on Tuesday that he recongnized that time is of the essence. He announced that many victims will receive a further interim compensation of $267,000.
