Hungerian president, Katalin Novák, has resigned from her position. This was because of a decision she made last year. Presidents of Republics have powers that allows them to pardon criminal prisoners every year.
After she pardoned a particular criminal, April 2023, the Hungarian people got very angry and protested. This person she pardoned is a known convicted pedophile, a detestable person. Of all persons to pardon, she pardoned a pedophile. This pedophile was locked up for 8 years.
Novak resigned after one week of public outrage. Especially after giving a speech on her decisions. She is the first female president in Hungary.
The government in Hungary for the most part is a Nationalist even though must European countries are run by Democrats.. Hungary is one of the countries that opposed the Military weapons supply help to Ukraine. The Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, block 50 million Euro in AID to Ukraine hours before the EU was to agree to send the AID to Ukraine. I believe they must have a good reason for that.
