There is a potential conflict dispute in Guyana and a vote that was taking place in Venezuela. The vote could pave away for Venezuela to annex or claim the territory in Guyana as Venezuelan territory. The important part of this story is that a lot of oil was discovered off the coast of this disputed territory. It is a very large territory.
Exxon Mobil actually moved in to take advantage of this oil discovery. Venezuela decided to have a referendum so that they can claim this territory, which will eventually, possibly prevent Exxon Mobil from taking this oil.
The United States, The Biden White House has already come out in support of Guyana effectively in support of Exxon Mobil. All in their right to move into this area for the oil exploration. The Referendum happen 4 December 2023. Venezuelans, overwhelmingly supported Nicolás Maduro’s referendum.
Which says that, this area in Guyana on the one side of the Essequibo river is for Venezuela.
This can turn into a very big conflict. This has the making to turning into a very big conflict. The whole world awaits to see what Nicolás Maduro is going to next. What Venezuela military is going to do next.
What happens to Exxon Mobil. What will the United States do.
This will be interesting to watch going forward. How does Brasil react? From what I understand the president of Brasil has already moved his military to the boarder of this area. In anticipation that something bad might go down.
But if you are the Biden White House, there is no need to worry because you can chew gum and walk at the same time.
